Severus Snape

Background:
Severus Snape was born of a muggle and a wizard. Though he maintains his proper, paternal surname of Snape, he has no regard or relationship with his father - favoring his pure-blood wizard mother's family. He was raised in a small town called Spinner's Edge, where he learned much of the world of magic, especially in potions brewing, from his mother Eileen. A bit of a loner and unpopular boy, Snape spent most of his time with his two fascinations: Magic and Lily Evans. The first captivated his inquisitive learning nature. Well before he was set to go to Hogwarts for magical schooling, he was researching, theorizing, and toying with the creation of spells and potions making. The second offered him a chance at a normal, happy life - something he was refused in his early years with his family. Lily, intrigued with his quirks, formed a strong friendship with him that blossomed as the two matured. However it was not meant to be as Lily went off to Meillure, and Snape to Hogwarts. Snape was cold upon hearing her choice to move to America, feeling betrayed and abandoned, he spoke out of turn and insulted her greatly. He was never able to apologize though as they were seperated and magical studies captivated and distracted him.
Once again a lonely outcast, Snape spent his first four years at Hogwarts diligently mastering his craft. He began to find kinship with a group of Slytherins that accepted him, though also exploited him and his abilities. Quickly Severus found himself longing for what he had with Lily before Hogwarts and set himself to transfer to Meillure, his former love and friendship having grown into more of an obsession than anything else.
Upon arriving in America, Snape first sought out Lily, but could not approach the now 16 year old girl whom he still remembered as a sweet childhood friend. Intimidated by her, and he newfound friends, Snape grew colder and jealous - fearing he'd made a mistake in coming to Meillure, but unable, and unwilling, to transfer back.
